Solar PV Design, Renewable Energy

Scott McCalmont is Founder and CTO of McCalmont Engineering, an engineering consulting company that provides premier design and engineering services for the solar industry. Dr. McCalmont has over 20 years of design, research and development experience in industry and academia. He holds 6 U.S. patents.

Most recently Dr. McCalmont worked as the Director of Engineering for Regrid Power, one of California's largest and most respected solar integrators. While there he developed PVwatch, a web-based monitor for photovoltaic systems. Before that, he was a Senior Design Engineer for Micrel Semiconductor, designing analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits. While with Micrel he also held the position of Adjunct Professor at Iowa State University.

Dr. McCalmont holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Duke University, and BS and MS degrees in EE from Iowa State University. He is a registered Professional Engineer and a licensed C-10 (electrical) contractor in the State of California, and a NABCEP-certified Solar PV Installer. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.
