Background: Jim Walker of Walker Power Design, Inc. has more than 30 years of experience in power electronics design. Projects have been very diverse and have included telephone ringing voltage generators, a controller for a naval machine gun, solar powered irrigation control, manufacturing process temperature control, and analysis and mitigation of system noise. In addition to design activity, the experience has included various forms of support such as specification preparation, reliability analysis, system diagnoses, testing, and expert witness. Walker Power Design, Inc. has a very well equipped lab with the capability of building prototypes including the fabrication of transformers. Engineering software includes Orcad schematic capture and layout, PSpice circuit simulation, Mathcad, Protel schematic capture and layout, and Magnetics Designer for transformer and inductor design.

Jim Walker has a B.E.E. from Georgia Tech and an M.S.E.E. from California State University Long Beach.
